Unregulated fishing in the West African maritime waterways leads to annual loss of nearly $ 2. billion.

The Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, said this in Abuja at a maritime conference.

He lamented the loss of revenues to West Africa through illegal fishing, suggesting tight legal framework on the issue.

The Speaker said the National Asssembly will speed up work on bills tackling illegal fishing.
