2019 elections : Okorocha condemns zoning formula

APC begins registration of members in Imo

The Imo State Governor   Rochas Okorocha has condemned the zoning of political offices in Nigeria, saying  it is barbaric and does not allow credible candidates to emerge.

Speaking in Owerri capital of Imo State while briefing journalists, Governor Okorocha said the practice of zoning has contributed heavily to the woes of the masses and slow pace of development.

According to him,  days are gone when people were deceived by the argument in favour of zoning, advising that people should consider the quality and credibility of every candidate as a yardstick for voting rather than zoning.

The Governor used the opportunity to plead with Nigerians to avoid politics of sentiment ,adding that it is shameful for somebody to hope on zoning to win elections.
