The kidnappers who abducted a German archaeologist and his associate from a remote northern village in Nigeria this week, are demanding a ransom of 200 000 dollars.
The 65-year-old Peter Breunig and Johannes Behringer, who is in his 20’s, are part of a four-man team from Frankfurt’s Goethe (GO-TE) University, working at an excavation site in Kaduna.
According to reports, the abductors contacted colleagues of the professor asking for the ransom and warning not to get authorities involved.

Rescue teams are now searching around Jenjela village in Kaduna state, where the men were abducted.
